Ten years ago, I left daily journalism to pursue other things, including non-fiction books and articles, and advocating for mental health services that help people get well, not just stay out of the hospital in day treatment or dead-end part-time jobs. Over 10 years at the Lawrence Eagle-Tribune, I covered state and local government, a couple of NH Presidential primaries, small towns and one small city, the arts, TV, and human interest. I also enjoyed writing editorials (3 years), political columns, and commentaries on non-political life issues for the op-ed page. A good opinion column tells a reader something he didn't know or draws the reaction, "I never thought of it that way." I love the craft, and hope to pursue it in this forum.
I teach sociology at New England College in Henniker.
I am merely interested in what is happening and although I will probably restrict myself to "Letters to the editor" as I have done in the past, There may come a day when the number of my words may exceed the limit set by the monitor. Main interest is righting some wrongs. ( If such a thing is truely possible.)
