Dead Horse? Gas prices out of control

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

Every day,we see higher and higher gas prices. Less than 10 years ago I was in high school and a gallon of gas cost only 97 cents. It's almost 4 times that now, and who knows when it will slow down.

What's up with the weather?

|

It's 2 AM on a Friday morning in mid-November. What would you guess the weather would be? Hovering around the freezing mark? Possibly threatening to snow?

No, no, of course not. My weather widget on my computer is telling me it's 66 degrees out, raining and there's a flood watch. Ummm... I'm not a scientist or anything, but my gut instinct is that this is NOT NORMAL.

We're Moving

| |

After twenty-two years and eleven months of living with my parents, I'm finally moving out. My husband and I found a lovely two bedroom apartment in Suncook, the Pembroke side of the river.

Random thing I have been wondering.... What do people who live in the Suncook villiage usually say when people ask what town they're from? Do they say Suncook or do they say Pembroke or Allenstown?  When people have asked where I'm moving to, I feel wrong just saying Pembroke because I feel the need to clarify that I'm moving to Suncook but I also feel wrong just saying I'm moving to Suncook because I feel I need to clarify which side of the river I'm on.

Happy 9th Blogiversary to me.... in two days.

|

I'm writing this now because in two days from now, I'll probably forget to mention it.

November 16th is the day I celebrate my blogiversary. My blog will be 9 years old this year. (Doesn't this mean I'm entitled to write a book?) I don't think it's actually my blogiversary because one, blogs didn't exist nine years ago because the term "weblog" wasn't coined until about a month later (December 17, 1997) and "blog" wasn't coined until Spring 1999 (or at least this is what Wikipedia tells me about blog) and two, I remember writing entries earlier than November 16, 1997. I just use that date as my blogiversary because it's the oldest archive I can find.

On Working at Home

|

I am a slacker who hasn't blogged lately. Oops!

As you may recall, a little over a month ago I announced that I'd finally gotten a job. I guess now that I've been employed a month I can write a little bit about my impressions of the job.

Social Networking, This is Only The Beginning

|

I have been wanting to talk about social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook and their role in society, particularly for teenagers and twenty-somethings, for awhile. I just haven't had the time to sit down and actually write and introduction to do it... but tonight, as I was watching TV, two things set me off.

In Which, I Rant About Job Hunting

|

One of the things that I was taught about submitting resumes to prospective employers is that you submit the resume, and then about a week or so later, you should call the company you applied at to check on the status of your application. Personally, I've begun to wonder about this....

The Good News!

|

Rule #1 is you never blog specifics about the job hunt. Well, you can but it means you might not get hired if you get caught.

Rule #2 is you never blog about work. Well, you can but it means you can get fired if your boss is in a bad mood.

Paperback Swap

|

I had the pleasure of discovering a really nifty website as of recently. Paperback Swap. The way the website works is pretty simple. Once you set up an account, you enter in a list of books you own that you'd like to give away. Once you've entered in nine books, you recieve a point to get you started. One point is redeemable in the system to recieve one book. You're notified when other people want the books that you own and you mail the books out via media mail (which is usually $1.58 per book) and when the other person recieves your book, they confirm they've recieved it and you recieve a point for another book. Since the service requires a mailing address, they require you be 18 years of age.

The Wedding: In Two Days

|

So, it's two days until the wedding. Life has been surprisingly normal.

We've been to the The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Fair twice since it started on Saturday.
