As always, I enjoy your point of view and how you express yourself.

It's remarkable how the man is being compared to FDR and Lincoln. Some are trying to create a national holiday bearing his name. And he has not served one day as our leader.

I pray. I rant. I bite my tongue.

I just hope it is not a case of "the more things change, the more they stay the same."

Greetings Terry,

I have not read the book above so I was just wondering, is Tail Gunner Joe a hero now? What is this book about? Thanks.

Great points as always, Terri. I admire your wise insight.

I've heard it all in the last few days. The clincher was "I'm so happy, now I'll be able to keep a roof over my head!" OK.... How do you figure that?

Yes, The One will supply you with housing. I am greatly relieved by this.

My worst fear is the feeling that Darwin was wrong.

You hit it again. Thank you for this intelligent, well thought out post.

The Rhetorical question is, How can we as Americans demand the propaganda BS be turned off? Wouldn't you love to see truth in reporting, for once?

Oh, I forgot, there is no media bias.

Interesting your reference to Senator Joe McCarthy.

Tough Day

Well, this last game was certainly a dosey of a rouse! Hope this was the "get-it-out-of-the-way early" tactic; a loss now instead of at the end of the season. I was there for the beating, it was disheartening, especially seeing our boys not being the well-oiled team we all know they are capable of being. The S.O. and I had a great day anyway, despite the sunburns and lopsided score.

Sorry Ken but you too have taken your Left wing politics too far on this blog at times as well.

As I hear MoveOn, Think Progress, hosts on Air America and people like Keith Olbermann, all poster children for the Left spew rhetoric about how we 'deserved' it and how it was an 'inside job' and how it is about 'America's policies', I would have to say that the Left does not understand the gravity of the situation and do not care beyond politics.

Knowing people who were there, Mr. Braiterman, I would have to say that your assessment is wrong. Appearances are for 'appearance'. If Obama did not attend it would he would have been excoriated for it.

As far as my 'right wing' politics are concerned, they were not extreme for most of my life, that was the middle ground. It shows just how far in the liberal abyss we have fallen.

Liberals should demonstrate how patriotic they are by standing against Islamic fascism and supporting a strong defence and supporting immigration policies that will keep terrorists OUT! So far they have not.

Addendum

My S.O. came home from work the same day I wrote this post and told me how he had been teased about his lunch box (he's had it forever and it shows). He put on a pouty face and explained that he told these mean coworkers that he saw no reason to stop using it since it still did it's job, even though the grim is buried so deep one would need to soak it in bleach for a few weeks. I told him he had to read my post since I had said this very thing in it (he rarely reads what I write here).

He did have to correct me on a couple of points, so in all fairness, I will pass along his corrections. He has only had his alarm clock for about 10 years (that would make it younger than all our children), although the one he was replacing 10 years ago was older than any of our children now. Also, it was I who bought the plastic cups at Sam's Club (at his suggestion) since it's actually me who has the card saying it's okay for me to shop there. He would have bought paper cups he says. I pointed out that the wax on paper cups is just as eco-unfriendly, but he wasn't listening to me anymore; Two and a Half Men were debating the vitures of maleness on the television and this was far more important.

And my goodness, Scott, you would think I'd have made an enitre new dog house for my puppy with all these nails I've been hitting lately.

You have hit the nail on the head!

Are we becoming a society that knows the politically correct things to say but when it comes to actions that's for other folks. Personal pet peeves, politicians that ask us to conserve and then fly to their next conference in their private jet, celebrities that excoriate our wasteful behavior while engaging in sport shopping and the acquisition of useless things.

Sometimes it seems that only us regular Joes have the obligation to save the planet. I like Terri's idea, this is all about common sense. Yankee ingenuity, using things until they no longer work rather than replacing things that have only lost their cosmetic appeal.

Regardless of your political persuasion we are all charged with being good stewards of our planet. That means being conservative when we use the earth's bounty. It means applying common sense in our purchases and in what we... not schools... teach our children about being responsible adults.

Ken,

Us darn conservatives and liberatarians just say what's on our minds without holding back, so please forgive us. I can only speak from my own experience.. but I have many liberal friends who told me (even in the months after 9/11/01) and still do...

Basically, they don't want to think about it, or talk about it, they want to pretend it never happened. I find this head in the sand way of going about life a little bit disturbing.

Glad to hear you are one who does not feel this way.

Judy

PS I'd like to see more of both sides suspending politics and ridiculous commercials.. but alas it's probably a pipe dream.

This time, you've taken your right-wing politics too far, Mr. Bunker. Liberals have not forgotten 9/11, are not in denial, and are no less patriotic than you are. Apparently, you missed the message Obama and McCain sent when they suspended politics on 9/11 and appeared side-by-side at Ground Zero.

A client

I had a client until recently (changed jobs) and she was a survivor of the twin towers. When she hit the street, everything came crashing down.

She opened up to me but you could see her eyes well up. On her desk sat a 4X6 piece of granite from the rubble at the twin towers. On it was engraved: "9-11....NEVER FORGET".

She also told me that she was a liberal until that day, she now votes the other way and is so disgusted with those who claim it was an inside job, etc.

Many of our fellow citizens, in the name of denial and politics, have truly forgotten.

It can happen again. Will we be ready?

Nice piece Terri!
