Looking at the list of supporters and then at the picture on the front page it proves that intellectual accomplishment does not mean that you have any common sense at all.

Unbelievable......that is progressive thought in our Universities.

This is another one of those "What are they thinking?" questions. I've heard all the arguments now, not just from colleges - but in regards to our military as well. If they are old enough to be soldiers, they should be old enough to drink.

The truth is, no matter what - it's too easy for those under aged to get their hands on it anyway. It's an age old question. It was too easy when we all were that age. It just doesn't have a bit of common sense or merit to lower the bar and make it even easier.

And yes, when you're that age, you do think you'll live forever and that "tragedy" on the news would never happen to me. It takes a whole boat load longer life experience to realize that eventually, bad things will happen to everyone.. even without looking for ways to accelerate that process.

You are correct about this one, never thought I would say it.

The primary issue is that sociologists and psychologists perform studies and come up with peer reviewed material that is then embraced by academia.

Bottom line, as you flawlessly stated:

"College students do it because everybody else does. Kids that age think they’ll live forever. The consequences they see only happen to other people."

The presidents of 100 top colleges are starting a campaign to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18, the Associated Press reported Aug 19. They say it will reduce binge drinking, which is a major issue on college campuses. Binge drinking is more exciting to students when it is illegal, they say.
