Really?!?

I am very glad that we have enlightened souls like yourself to help us sort through what is useful and what is nonsense.

Let's follow your premise and you history of responses to this blog for a moment as well as your world view, Michael.

You believe that it is possible that the Twin Towers attack was an inside job. That is nonsense. You ask to give you and others of the enlightened Left a break and keep my thoughts to myself and stop forcing them on the rest of the world.

So what you are saying is that in the arena of ideas, any idea or thought or viewpoint that does not meet your criteria is a forcing it "upon the rest of the world". Your wish is that those who do not share the progressive viewpoint should just shut up. Your reasoning is that those views are wrong and ignorant.

And you talk about ignorance. Inclusion of ideas, diversity of opinion, bi-partisanship, bringing people together seems to only apply when one takes the view of the Left.

This blog was not about religion and I made that clear. It was also not about the Left or Right. The arrogance of the Left however leaves them assuming that they are enlightened through their education and learning. That comes from the teachings of others which can be just as tainted as the teachings of religion through the ages.

Ignorant, if you are closed minded enough to think you have it all figured out. Obviously you either think you do or just want to believe what you are told without question.

Inclusion of ideas...hmmmm.

Inclusion of ideas...hmmmm. There are useful "ideas" and meaningless nonsense. ID is, in my opinion, nonsense and does not warrant inclusion in intelligent discussion. But as I've said before, you are entitled to believe anything you want...but please, give the rest of us a break and keep your thoughts to yourself and stop trying to force it upon the rest of the world. That's the arrogance of the Right's agenda that you and those like you represent in your ignorance.

OH,

9-11 was an inside job. Are you in that 'nut case' conspiracy brotherhood?

I understand now Michael; 9-11 was a conspiracy, religion is a conspiracy...what is next?

It must feel powerful to sit on a moral perch deciding what is relative and intellectual and what is ignorant belief.

That does not sound like the "inclusion" of ideas that those who believe in evolution champion for their pet beliefs.

That is all telling....thanks Mike!

There is more evidence that

There is more evidence that 9-11 was an inside job than there is to support creationism. Believe what you will. Ignorance is bliss they say.

In the beginning........

As I stated, this is not about religion, Michael. I guess you might have an inisde track as you must have lived thousands of years ago to be so certain.

The point here is that evolution is not "settled science"; a phrase used by those on the Left, to end debate. That is the same phrase used in conjunction with global warming another "absolute" swallowed hook line and sinker by the Left. Evolution is a theory and even evolutionists do not agree on much on the how's and why's beyond that this "theory" is a fact.

If we believe that we are the end all and be all and just bacteria, that says something pretty sad about the value that your "settled science" puts on life in general.

Leave religion out of it and ask yourself the questions in this blog. I would doubt that you could answer any of them.

You have the right to believe whatever you want but the argument is about absolute and faith that we place in our fellow men who could sell us any theory that they want. IN the end none of us alive today will know the truth but the science is evolving.

Dismissing the possibilities and thinking that we are alone or all of this was created from nothingness is like wearing blinders and marching in lockstep.

That seems to be what those who have disdain for religion accuse those believers and followers in doing. Seems like it is one big circle of belief but with two theories.

This is a silly blog.

This is a silly blog. Evolution is settled science. That not all the questions have been answered doesn't mean that won't be one day. Creationism is not much different that believing the earth is flat. People are entitled in this country to believe whatever silly things they want. We see that quite often in blogs in the Concord Monitor. But to believe in creationism over evolution is just plain ignorant. And Santa Claus is real too. Right.

Well brave? I am not sure of that but I do open myself to much ridicule and abuse. That is OK because if we are not willing to take a stand for what we believe and believe in then we are sheep cowering to the will of others.

Nice comments. I do know one thing that is absolute for you and I.......coming up in just a few weeks. I hope you enjoy your trip!!!!!!!!!

I Agree

Hi Bill!
Great blog! I agree with you 100%. Nothing is absolute and the unknown is just that; unknown. I believe that the evolution theory is a bunch of bull, but I respect the opinions and beliefs of others, no matter how strongly I disagree. Everyone has a right to their own thought processes and belief systems...if it resonates with them, then so be it...you are mighty brave, as usual, to open up a discussion on such a controversial subject:)

Here is a balanced look at evolution versus creation for those who are open minded enough to consider it.

Over the past week or two, the Monitor has published numerous letters debating Creation versus Evolution. That has tied in nicely to other news stories including the visit to the United States by the Pope and the role of religious belief in the upcoming election.
