Statemen NOT Politicians

You seem to get it Justin and I agree with the extended election cycle. I also would like to chime in about primaries. I am so very glad that Bill Gardner kept us the first in the nation primary.

People who want one primary day are flirting with danger as that would breed candidates being elected and smaller states losing importance. At this point if a candidate wins New York, California and a minority of other states, they can become President.

Having one primary day would mean even longer election cycles.

I will say that we presently have too many attorneys at the helm in Washington and any ordinary man should be allowed to serve. Unfortunately, the legal professional has an inordinate amount of power and therefore....it is about money.

I will take a statesman over a politician any day of the week!

Unfortunately, Gregg is one...Sununu, Hodes and Shea-Porter definitely are not. All three are shrill partisans. I am not sure that Shaheen will be either but for some reason I am not threatened by her candidacy. Now, Katrina Swett...the apple does not fall far from the tree and Rep. Lantos is the only 'Lantos' that we need in Washington.

Once again....too many lawyers...we need honest, down to earth regular people in there!

B

Good Point

Hi Bill,

Good post, and good point. I think a lot of politicians these days are more interested in playing politics than actually serving the people of our country. Good ideas are good ideas, no matter what party they come from. Also, with longer election cycles, individuals are getting elected to office and are then spending more time campaigning for the next election than actually legislating.

~Justin

Now Mike.........

Gee Mike,

In that case shall we add Teddy Boy and John Kerry as well as most of the Senate?

Term limits Mikeee...term limits...that is the key. Shaheen will be no better and Hodes is already in there along with Shea Porter knee jerking along with the leadership. You are right, until we elect people of principle who are independent of the hunger for power we are doomed.

Hodes promised to bring his 'backbone to Washington', so far we have just seen a jellied version that goes along with whatever the leadership wants!

It is on both sides...what are Democrats going to do about it? Are they telling Hodes to allow debate...I doubt it.

What are you doing to try to stop this and allow debate and fairness in Congress.

B

Hear! Hear!

Will anyone hear you Bill? I doubt it. Our government is broken. People like Gregg are responsible for that. His ego is as big as all the others.
