At Disney

Last time we stayed at Pop Century and It was OK, nothing to write home about but the amount of time spent at hte hotel if you plan right is minimal.

We were new to the meal plan but caught on pretty quick and had some really nice meals.

As you can tell in this blog, I don't like rough flights so I can empathize with your fiance.

More like the third!

It'll be my third trip to Disney (once with my parents in high school, once on a conference last November), actually. It'll be a good time, though the fact that my other half doesn't do roller coasters so well might hinder things a little. But it'll still be fun! I'm excited, always am for Disney, and trips in general! And we're going for two weeks.

You're definitely right about the meal plan!

Are you going to be staying onsite in one of the Disney hotels, or somewhere nearby?

First Trip?

If this is your first trip...you are in for a treat. You ewill have a blast. Of course if you have already gone...you knw that!

I thought that I would not like it but I loved it and it is so good to be with your family there. It really was a time that brought us closer together.

With all of my travel I know it is hard on them. I try to do everything I can when I am home but the travel is not as easy as it used to be (wear and tear).

I look forward to Disney because I know I will have a great time but I also know that my wife and kids will as well and that it the most important thing. It really is for everyone!

There are alot of places I would like to go but Disney is a universal home run for everyone involved. I get too much travel elsewhere anyway...even with that....I can't wait to go to Disney!

For anyone who is staying there and never been before...buy the meal plan...it is alot cheaper and reserve restaurants and you will get some fantastic meals!

Bill,

We are going in May too! The last week. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we are there at the same time. Let me know, maybe our families can connect. We are staying in the park. My in-laws have these fabulous friends who save up all of their time shares and bring a bunch of people every year. We each get a fully loaded condo for the week and its free. How awesome is that! This is our first time..the kids are stoked!

I'll try the xanax...flying gives me the willies.

Low Fares

Those are pretty low fares Tracy. We are going down at the end of May and ours are a little more than that.

Last year was the first time that I had ever been to Disney and I looked at it as going for the kids and I would do my best to enjoy myself....well, after a week there I hounded my wife to book this year's trip.

It is really a great family experience.

Try Xanax for your flying; I used to do that when I flew for a few years back in 2003. Then I was grounded due to a New England career opportunity. I NEVER get used to flying...NEVER. I feel bad for the passenger sitting next to me as they have to feel my tension.

Have fun in Florida.

Flying?

Bill,

I do NOT fly the friendly skies! Actually, I find nothing friendly about the whole experience, nothing at all! Last summer, me and hubby booked a flight to Naples, Florida to see our very best friend, and in doing so, created a world of conflict in my heart. First...I wanted to see my best friend, but flying there was really scary in my mind. Of course I had no choice...so in a nut shell, I had my primary care physician prescribe me a sedative.

What happened during the flight, well, I have no idea...I am sure that I booked my seats in the emergency door row (I'll be danged if we go down, and I am NOT near an exit door). I hate, did I say, hate...to fly!! I have always felt that way all of my life and 9/11 just added to my neurosis. I struggle with travel, and not because I span the globe regularly, like you. Now my children want to go to Disney!

So this weekend we booked our flights to Disney and at a very great rate I might add, $114 dollars per person round trip! How awesome is that? This is with Continental, and I am pleased at the rate, but I can not stop thinking about how I may need sedatives...I stand to miss out on my boys first airplane trip. I am torn..this is not fun..Can I walk to Disney? If so? How long would it take? Truthfully, I'd rather not fly!!!!

I am terrified to fly, and bottom line..how do I show my children a good time without being really, and I mean really high on Valium?

Tracy M

Hey Bill,

Great and well written story. Thanks for sharing. Confirms my desire to stay on the ground. My last flight was to Orlando, and after that cattle experience, I have no desire to fly again.
