The Rise and Fall Of Boston Market
Submitted by Bill Bunker on September 12, 2008 - 22:00. Barnstead | Just becauseBoston Market closed it's doors and ceased operations in Concord last week. This closure and future closures by Boston Market should come as no surprise.
I can speak to this topic precisely as I was the training manager for Boston Market back in 1995-1997 and I opened several units for the company before landing in Concord and running that as a training store for the New England area.
The Play's the Thing
Submitted by Brian Drummond on September 1, 2008 - 22:25. Rte. 202 / 9 | Just becauseSometimes I feel like a kid that just fell in love and feels that it is necessary to brag about every little thing they have in common with the special person they’ve just met.
The problem is that I’m 46 years old, have lived in Cheshire county for five years, and am a little slow on the uptake.
Trying to find a job!
Submitted by Alex Martin on August 17, 2008 - 23:43. Greater Concord | Just becauseSo I’m not the world’s most consistent blogger, but it’s not like I had the time while I was student teaching. I had wanted to write a kind of commentary on my student teaching, but I couldn’t find the time between student teaching and working a couple of jobs. By the way, if anyone ever tells you teachers only work during the school hours, they haven’t the slightest clue what they’re talking about. Needless to say, my internship was hard work and I’m glad it’s over.
Finding Life and Love in a Pet Store
Submitted by Terri Oberg on August 7, 2008 - 08:39. Pembroke | Just becauseOne of my first jobs out of college was working in a pet store. I had grown tired of waitressing which had been my part time job throughout high school and college. I was living in Nashua at the time. My boyfriend and I were renting a room from a local woman. She hadn't really been all that pleased about renting to a couple since the original agreement had been between her and my boyfriend's family while he was going to school. The move to our own apartment couldn't come quick enough for all involved. So I took the first job that came along that didn't involve waiting tables.
Whatever Became of Hilary?
Submitted by Terri Oberg on July 29, 2008 - 23:19. Pembroke | Just becauseI have a very large, heavy box in the attic. It has followed me from home to home over the years, but is rarely opened. It is filled with a lifetime of letters and cards. They are the remnants of my childhood. They are a tangible connection to a part of my life that has long since passed into a realm I can barely recall anymore. I'm not sure why I cannot part with these letters. It's not like I open that box on a regular basis and reread the childish dreams and dramas written there, but getting rid of them would be like tossing out a part of something very important to my very existence. It is perhaps proof of my importance in this world, if only for a small handful of long lost friends.
Good To Go!
Submitted by Brian Drummond on July 12, 2008 - 15:19. Rte. 202 / 9 | Just becauseI have been waiting for 5 years to have a tattoo. I want a bald eagle clutching a scroll stamped onto my right arm. The riband will proclaim that I am a "Proud American Made in Canada".
I have had a love affair with the Granite State since I was 4 years old, spending many summer vacations at Hampton Beach.
Casino in New Hampshire?
Submitted by Daniel Hynds on July 9, 2008 - 10:32. Greater Concord | Just becauseShould New Hampshire have casinos?
I've been to Foxwoods all of one time, and Mohegan Sun once as well. I'm far from a gambler. I realize people are concerned about crime, and giving an outlet to gamblers. But do they realize you can gamble just as much in New Hampshire as it is?
Fairpoint just another step back in the tech world for New Hampshire
Submitted by Daniel Hynds on July 2, 2008 - 22:48. Greater Concord | Just becauseI remember back when fiber optics were something that only businesses could afford. The first time I heard it would be available to residents in this country I was floored: here was something that could really take off. The sky was the limit for what companies could offer consumers as far as technology: downloading entire episodes of TV shows, downloading movies, an entire discography of your favorite band. Anything.
Friend for life
Submitted by Daniel Hynds on June 15, 2008 - 22:42. Greater Concord | Just becauseA lot of people want the perfect dog or cat, will spend hundreds of dollars (if not a thousand plus) on getting the breed they want, and while they may do their due diligence in researching what type of breed works for them they don't do the same when it comes to researching where they are getting their new pet.
An Interesting Way to Stimulate the Economy
Submitted by Justin Drake on June 12, 2008 - 17:16. Greater Concord | Just becauseThe legalization of same-sex unions, whether called marriage or civil unions, has been called many things over the years. To many people its a sign of growing acceptance for same-sex couples and is an important step in the right direction towards equality for all. Others view it as a step in the wrong direction that could lead to the downfall of the "traditional family." But now there may be a new way to classify the legalization of same-sex unions: as an economic boon.
