Orders

|

It was bound to happen.  Several times we thought there were orders, there were none, and we collectively breathed a sigh of relief.  But the orders have finally come in.  Elizabeth is going to Korea for a year, beginning next March.

It will be exceptionally hard on the kids, Dailen, who will be almost 3, and Evelyn, who will have just turned 6, when their Mom leaves to serve our country in an overseas post.  Dailen (almost 2 now) still loves to snuggle to his Mommy's neck. Evelyn just loves to go anywhere with Mommy that involves shopping or vacation.

I look at my lovely, amazing daughter, and think how she will change, being gone for a whole year, how the kids will adjust to her being gone, and how they will grow.  Evelyn will be entering Kindergarten this fall, which her mom will see, but she won't see her go to her first day of First Grade, or meet the teacher, or get to go to parent-teacher conferences.

Being in the Air Force has it's ups and downs.  Being separated from family and loved ones is a constant challenge, and to be expected from any branch of the Armed Forces.

I Salute anyone who has gone through this before.  I know it's hard on both sides.

Thanks

Susan,

Please thank Elizabeth for her service and sacrifice.  It shows character, patriotism and dedication to her country; something unfortunately, that many people take for granted and do not appreciate.

I am glad to hear Korea as it is somewhat safer than other places on the planet right now.

I feel for her children but I am sure that you will be taking a big part in their lives and that will really matter.

Thanks

Thanks Bill!

With all the press, both good and bad, more people are getting a glimpse into what it means to be overseas for a year (or longer) with out family.  Unfortunately, many people still don't know of the sacrifice made by those at home, who literally put their lives on 'hold' to help both family & friends when a soldier goes overseas.  We are VERY fortunate in that respect.

We are looking to make a lot of changes in the next 9 months before Elizabeth goes to Korea, so we hope that things will be better for everyone involved.

Thanks again,

Susan
