The Commander In Chief

|

In moments of national tragedy we look to our presidents to provide a sense of calm, we expect them to maintain their composure, and lend dignity to the moment and their high office. In these uncertain times the president is the embodiment of and the voice for our national expression of sympathy and compassion. For those who witnessed the tragedy and the nation, that looks on in stunned horror, we look to the president to help us understand. We look to our president to explain what has happened and to help us with the healing.

This president failed this test. For Barack Obama, the visit to the Tribal Nations Conference was just another campaign stop, complete with a shout out to Dr. Joe Medicine Crow. After three minutes of eerily light and uncomfortable banter, the president finally got around to addressing the tragedy that occurred at Fort Hood. The nation was stunned, the commander in chief was in campaign mode.

Mr. President, the brave men and women of Fort Hood and the nation, deserved better from you...

Once again, you seem to have

Once again, you seem to have your blinders on, Scott.  President Obama has spoken to the nation and will be representing  the citizens at the memorial to be held today.

Your problem, like so many of your ilk, seems to be that you can't stand the fact that we now have an adult in the White House for the first time in a generation or more.  You are way off the mark with this one.

Is it because he is a black man, Scott?  Is that your REAL problem?

I was wondering when this would happen...

Racism...do you really believe that is the issue?

If president Obama were white, you honestly believe that I would instantly support his nationalized health care plan. I guess I would also gladly support his mortgaging the future of our country with TARP funds. No doubt,  I would instantly be moved to support the tax increases he will need to pay for this folly, and I would be tripping over myself, singing his praises for emasculating the U.S. military in a fashion that would make Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton proud.

He could be my favorite shade of blue...and I doubt even you believe that it's about race! Find some other label but don't waste the racist charge on me!
