A Beautiful Winter Day

|

One of the things that makes us mammals that much more awesome than reptiles is our innate ability to regulate our own body temperature and thus withstand many different temperature ranges. We loose out on the ability to regrow our tails and smell with our tongue so I guess I'll have to call it a draw on the evolutionary scale. Its still cool not having to sun yourself to stay warm.

It is amazing how our mammilian perspective shifts throughout the winter though. I was driving a friend somewhere yesterday and she remarked that it was such a nice day out that she didn't even need a jacket. After taking a brief moment to evaluate the situation, I too decided it was a very nice day. The sun was shining, the air was still, and it was much milder than it had been in a while. Then I realized it was still in the low 30's! Ha ha! Funny what a stint of 20 degree weather will do to our perspective.

Moving along to today, it was a blistering 37 degrees out and I decided to embrace the beauty of the day. Windows down? Check. Music Blaring? Check. Obnoxious sunglasses that you think look cool but really are so rediculous that they maybe just come back around to being cool again after passing through uncool and uber dorky? Double Check!

There's just something great about cruising with the windows down and the heater up. Yes my left ear was about ready to fall off after a few minutes but that's kind of the point. There's just something so invigorating and right about driving with the windows down, the music up, and actually interacting with the world around you.

I plan to own a convertible some day. When that day comes I will be the guy out there with the top down right up to and including freezing temperatures. Maybe I should just save a grand or two and buy one with a broken top. It's not like it will ever be up anyhow.
