We have arrived!

|

This is the first summer that my girls and I are spending it structure-free. I've taken the summer off of work and the girls, save for 1 week of horse camp for my oldest, aren't signed up for anything. I must be crazy.

The girls have been getting along fabulously for the most part, though my plans of holding some mini mom-camps where we tackle a different subject each week have gone awry. I don't know what planet I was on when I planned that because I am famously disorganized. We've spent a good portion of the days so far either sick (all 3 of us have been sick and now it's my husband's turn) or huddled in the basement during all the thunderstorms we've had.

When we've had the good fortune of great weather, we've spent it outdoors. We've gone strawberry-picking, canoeing, biking and swimming at the local pond. I'm not an outdoors kind of girl, but even I realize how lucky we are to live here in the Monadnock region where people come from all over the country to spend their summers. So, thank goodness for stay-cations and rising gas prices because then we might not be enjoying our home scenery and our time with each other as much as we have. Then again, this is only the first half of our summer. Stay tuned to see how we survive the rest of the summer.
