We're Moving
After twenty-two years and eleven months of living with my parents, I'm finally moving out. My husband and I found a lovely two bedroom apartment in Suncook, the Pembroke side of the river.
Random thing I have been wondering.... What do people who live in the Suncook villiage usually say when people ask what town they're from? Do they say Suncook or do they say Pembroke or Allenstown? When people have asked where I'm moving to, I feel wrong just saying Pembroke because I feel the need to clarify that I'm moving to Suncook but I also feel wrong just saying I'm moving to Suncook because I feel I need to clarify which side of the river I'm on.
Though, I'm tempted to just say we're moving to Suncook so my husband will stop getting confused and saying he's moving to Penacook because Pembroke and Penacook both start with the letter P.

I've always been baffled by it... but it never really had much of a reason to stop to question it until now. Really, it is all the same... but I always feel obligated but hesitant to specify because Suncook is the "poor" section of Pembroke and the stereotypical thing that comes to mind is all the duplexes and apartments that are in all former mill towns (which the apartment we're going to be isn't one of).

Welcome to my town! I just moved here 11 months ago, and I'm still confused by the whole Pembroke/Suncook thing. When my children ask, I just tell them "it's all the same." My address is Pembroke and we're walking distance to the Village. That's what we call it..."the Village".
