UMass 3, Icecats 0
Getting three goals and outplaying the University of New Hampshire over the final two periods, the University of Massachuetts hockey team snapped the Wildcats' five-game win streak with a 3-0 win at the Mullins Center.
Cory Quirk got the Minutemen on the board with 6:01 left in the second period, putting home the rebound of David Leaderer's point-blank drive from the left dot. Pembroke's Brian Foster got his glove on the initial shot, but had no chance on the rebound and so his personal scoreless streak to start his collegiate career ends at 172 minutes and 22 seconds.
Will Ortiz was then left alone in the slot two and a half minutes into the third, and buried a Kevin Jarman pass to extend the Minuteman edge to two. Ortiz added his second from the same spot later in the frame.
