Game recap: Maine 3, UNH 2
ORONO, Maine – Coming into this college town with a record of uncommon accomplishment – winners of five straight in a building where the program had previously gone six years between triumphs, and where it has historically lost more than twice as often as it’s won -- the University of New Hampshire hockey team was asked this week to divulge the secret of success at Alfond Arena.
And, unilaterally, the Wildcats offered a simple answer: Keep your composure.
Then last night they learned the consequences of losing it.
Fourth-line winger Scott Pavelski was whistled for slashing after the whistle in the offensive zone, and the University of Maine used the ensuing power play to start a comeback from two goals down that ultimately resulted in a 3-2 victory when the Black Bears potted the winner in the opening minute of the third period.
