Mark Martin was the first to run into trouble in Turn 4, spinning out of the turn during the afternoon practice session. Martin rolled into the grass, relatively unscathed, but the same can't be said for Tony Stewart. The Sprint Cup points leader lost the back end, slid up the track and scraped then bumped the wall coming out of the turn. Stewart quickly drove the car to the garage area where his team was already unloading the backup car.
Most of the No. 14 Old Spice crew is prepping the backup for this afternoon's qualifying, while the rest of the staff is doing what it can to repair the first car. Some of Ryan Newman's crew is also helping in the repairs. Stewart-Haas owns both the No. 14 and No. 39 car of Newman.
