Streakbusting?
In 21 Nationwide Series events at NHMS, dating to 1990, the race has never seen a repeat winner. And the odds seem to favor the chances of that the streak continuing on Saturday.
According to its entry list, the Camping World RV Sales 200 presented by RVs.com -- hereby shortened to CWRS2PBR in the blogosphere -- will include only six former Nationwide winners at New Hampshire, and only one of them comes into the weekend ranked among the top 10 in series points.
That'd be Carl Edwards, who earned his backflip here in 2006 and currently stands fourth in points. All the other former winners who've entered are further down the standings, including Jason Keller (11th), Bobby Hamilton Jr. (15th), Kenny Wallace (17th), Kevin Harvick (18th) and Derrike Cope (36th). Cope won here in 1994, but the former Daytona 500 winner has run the former Busch Series at Loudon just three times since, and never again cracked the top 30.
Also of note is that, typical of a weekend when the series are at the same track, Saturday's race will feature 13 Cup regulars. They are:
2 -- Clint Bowyer
6 -- David Ragan
9 -- Patrick Carpentier
10 -- Dave Blaney
16 -- Greg Biffle
18 -- Kyle Busch
20 -- Tony Stewart
32 -- Denny Hamlin
33 -- Kevin Harvick
40 -- Dario Franchitti
60 -- Carl Edwards
77 -- Bobby Labonte
99 -- David Reutimann
