Hornaday clear
After admitting he rubbed testosterone into his thigh to help with ailment doctors were having difficulty diagnosing, Craftsman Truck Series driver Ron Hornaday has been cleared of any wrongdoing by NASCAR.
"It's over and done with," NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter said at a morning press conference also featuring Hornaday and team owner Kevin Harvick.
Harvick brought a folder filled with some of Hornaday's medical records, which he'd shared with his team and with NASCAR after an ESPN report brought his drug use into the spotlight last week. After losing weight and feeling generally subpar, Hornaday was referred to a clinic by some personal associates, and it was from there he received the testosterone he used from late in 2004 until early 2006.
After failing to see any improvement, and losing more weight, Hornaday stopped using the substance and was forced by Harvick to visit a doctor at Wake Forest. There, it was learned he had a hyperactive thyroid.
