Proud
I haven't written here for a while. There is no real reason, I just haven't thought of things to write about and haven't taken the time to write. Topics seem to pop into my head and percolate and then I have somethting to write about. Sometimes there are dry spells between percolations.
My daughter recently started her final semester in college. I'm very proud of her and love to brag about her. She was valedictorian of her high school (Ooltewah High School in Chattanooga, TN) and has had a full scholarship throughout her college career at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She settled on a major a little late so it will end up taking a little over 5 years for her to graduate. (That's pretty good; it took me 17 years. I tell people that I had to squeeze 4 years of college into 17.)
She will have a BSN degree; a bacehelors degree in nursing. She's very excited to get her degree so she can start her career and start the next phase of her life. She has plans to buy a house soon.
I'm so proud of her. I've written about teenagers in previous blogs and have written about life lessons I've learned from them. The teenage years (and early 20's) are the greatest time of life. It's time to build friendships, find out what you believe in, and figure out your purpose in life. My daughter is the epitome of this. She has a great community of friends, she knows her beliefs and believes them because she chooses to, not because her mother or father do, and she knows that her purpose is to be a great nurse and serve her community as a nurse.
God has blessed me with 6 beautiful, healthy kids; 3 by a previous marriage, 2 step-daughters, and one by my 2nd marriage. I love all of them. I will continue to watch them as they grow and continue to learn life lessons from them; probably lessons I should have learned when I was younger. Life is an adventure.
