Nash Finally Titles

|

It was October 2005 at the labrador retriever national specialty where Nash earned his last agility title. Since then we have been struggling with the dropped bar, tenth-pole pop on the weave poles, wrong courses, faults, eliminations, time faults, and the endless tunnel smear.

Nash loves his tunnels and while he waits at the start he will literally crane his neck to find the tunnels on course. When given the command to go, he saunters to his tunnel. He does not peel out, but saunters, rolls around inside to hearts delight. Its the smell of the hot plastic and ribs of the tunnel rubbing on his back that he love. When he is satisfied he trots out and continues the course.

Finally, we connect and have three qualifying runs in a weekend. Qualifying (Q's) runs are needed to earn a title, once three Q's are earned we move up to the next level.  This past weekend Nash earned one Q in his gamble run (this is a type of game requiring distance handling and point accumulation) and his third Q in his jumpers run (this is a course with just jumps and tunnels - no smearing, he thought about it though). If Nash did not pop out of the tenth pole on the weave poles, the second to last obstacle of the course, he would have Q'd in that too.  All three runs were smooth and the connection was there, so sweet.
