Where is home?

|

I know that most of you who read this blog are from New Hampshire, but some are not. So, where do you call home? It will be fun to see just where everyone is located.

I currently live in Hillsboro, New Hampshire, but I grew up in Missouri. (My parents are under 16 inches of snow today!) I've lived in Utah, Texas, Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

How about you?

I'm native New Hampshire.

I'm native New Hampshire. Only place I've lived thus far.

Where I'm from

This is fun!

I was born in Connecticut, but lived in NH most of my life.  In the past three years, I've lived in Vermont, Mississippi, Georgia and now in Texas.  We are hoping to be here for a while.

Where do I call home?  That is very complicated.  I call NH home, in the sense that I grew up there, and have a sense of time & place there, with family and friends.  I also call South Mississippi home, in that I love the area, the people, and the food cannot be beat.

I'm currently living in Texas.  I'm not fond of the area of Texas in which we live.  It's stuck between the prairie and hill country, so it's very rocky and not much green as far as trees and grass goes. However, I love my house, so here I stay.

NH!

I've lived in NH all my life, save for the first two and a half days when I was born, which was in MA (I was adopted as an infant, my -adoptive- parents were working in MA at the time).

Grew up in Antrim, and still live there with my parents on school breaks.  This should be changing in the coming months, when my parents move to the new house.

I spend most of my time in Concord at school, though, since I live there during the school year.

I grew up in New York,

I grew up in New York, Westchester County area.  We moved to New Hampshire when I was 13.  I hated my first year in New Hampshire and as a teenager couldn't wait until I would be old enough to move away.  Now can't imagine living anywhere else.

The saying goes "Home is where the heart is"...Everything and everyone I love is here in New Hampshire. My heart is here.

Michigander

Hey y'all,
I'm from Michigan, northern Michigan. Not a Yooper (that means not from the upper peninsula of Michigan) but pretty far north. About 4 hours NW of Detroit.
I know Linda from Missouri. We met about 15 years ago. Can you believe it? We were in MO because my husband was in the service.
Michigan is definitely home. And we also got dumped on Friday. Anywhere from 4 - 10 inches of snow depending on where you're standing!
:)

Hot Springs, Arkansas

I was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I married a beautiful New Hampshire girl 32 years ago this  coming Dec 21st. I was 27 when we moved here and now I am 55. There was no other part of the country like New Hampshire was when I moved here. New England, especially New Hampshire, had a very unique identity. That with the four seasons made New Hampshire my home. I know time goes on, but I really am glad I was able to enjoy New Hampshire when it was a more rural state and all the big problems were down south somewhere!

Been There

Hey Dan,

I've been to Hot Springs a couple of times since it is only a few hours away from my family home in Missouri. I even won the Daily Double at the race track one time thanks to a horse named Champaign Glance. (I picked it because of the name!)

Same delima

Susan,

I have the same problem when someone asks me where is home. My first instinct is to say Missouri, but I have lived in New England for 14 years! (8 1/2 in New Hampshire.) I love this area and could never think of living anywhere else, but Missouri still has that "home" feel.

Wow

More than 15 years! It's amazing how fast the time goes, Karmie, especially when you think of all the changes we have been through since we first met. It is nice to know that our friendship has survived time and distance.

Wouldn't you know it. I moved to New England for the snow and everyone else gets dumped on this week. We don't have any...yet!

Oaklawn Park

I spent many a Saturday at Oaklawn Race Track.  I won the first race I ever bet on. The horse was Squireman Sherman. He led the whole way. Whatever it takes to win at gambling-- I don't have it! But... if you have $50 to blow, going to the races is fun. I try to think of weird ways to pick a horse. For me,. that way is more fun and takes less brain power. The racing form just gives me headaches.

Hot Springs, Arkansas

Hello Dan (Danny) Meeks of Hot Springs fame. Long time no hear (maybe 1969 or 1973 timeframe). Last time heard about you - you were in the Navy and your cousin Robert was at UA with me in the early 70's.

Have NOT been intouch with you in a long time as well as all our SJS grad's in 1965 ??? I have NOT kept in touch with many of our mutual SPA friends/classmates since my leaving the Hot Springs area in the early 70's for the Air Force. My folks deceased in the late 80's and have NOT been back since. Often think of our old homestead "now & then" as well as SJS and HSHS/LHS. I wonder what happen to us guys ??? I guess MEEKS SIGNS is still up & running ...

Married with kids and live in southeastern ALabama (near the FL & GA state lines) - The Wiregrass area. We are about 2 hours from Ft Walton Beach & 1 1/2 hours from Panama City Beach. Married 29 years to a USAF brat (but beautiful lady)- kids off to College !!!

Great seeing your name in print & hopefully you are DANNY MEEKS of Hot Springs (1950-1960-1970 vintage time-frame ???).

Hi again Clifford

I have been here for the last few minutes trying to figure out "SPA".  Then it hit me. Hot Springs-- the SPA area. I haven't thought of that in years and years.

I forgot to tell you one person I emailed with on www.classmates.com. It was Vicki Vitro. Remember her. I saw her picture. She looks just the same
