Trailing the Yankees 3-1, an staring at a three game sweep, the Sox got to businessin the top of the sixth scoring three times and amassing a 4-3 lead they would never reliniquish.
The big hit was a RBI double by Alex Gonzalez which came on the tenth offering by reliever Scott Proctor. The hit was initially scored an error on Alex Rodriguez, but was later reversed.
The Sox would add on five runs in the seventh. The big hit was a three run blast into the right field seats by Jason Varitek to pad the Sox lead, and make it 7-3.
Curt Schilling would do the rest. After allowing three solo home runs in the first five innings, Schill settled down and ended with an impressive line of eight innnings pitched, four hits, and three runs. He also didn't allow a single base runner after being given the lead in the top of the sixth.
