Good To Go!

|

I have been waiting for 5 years to have a tattoo. I want a bald eagle clutching a scroll stamped onto my right arm. The riband will proclaim that I am a "Proud American Made in Canada".

I have had a love affair with the Granite State since I was 4 years old, spending many summer vacations at Hampton Beach.

Six years ago cupid slugged me with a bat when I was smitten by some kitten from New England.

We were married by a "friendly and affordable" justice of the peace in Swanzey on New Years Eve 2002. That was when I emptied out my igloo and packed my parka, toque and hockey sticks onto a dogsled and happily moved my life across the border to a place where people live free or die.

Now that I’m here there is no other place I'd rather be.

Now that I am here I’ve noticed how I’ve evolved from being someone from another country who was nicknamed "Yankee" to someone who is about to become an American citizen that Yankees jokingly make sure is referred to as "the Canadian".

This blog will provide my quirky point of view on things that I notice or enjoy about everyday life in a small town in New Hampshire.

It will focus on my interest in current events, silly human behavior, politics and my adaptation to the New England state of mind.

Just think of me as the eccentric yet loveable cousin who shows up at the family barbeque with a fondness for bacon cheeseburgers and spends the day clowning around with a hint of a maple leaf stuck between his teeth.

I’ll be the one smoking Marlboro Lights, discussing the Red Sox and wearing a God Bless America t-shirt .

Hopefully we all have a few chuckles along the way.
