Correct Me If I'm Wrong

I was reading through the police log for Concord from the end of April through May 7th and I was wondering why some reports are selectivly left out. I noticed a log where someone had put their girlfriend in a headlock to keep her from using the telephone and Yes it made the paper but I personally know of an armed robbery of a single mother who had a gun held to her head in her home while she was robbed and it didn't make the Police Log at all but the headlock of a girlfriend did. Is there something wrong with this picture? Is this the Policy of the Police who are supposed to "Protect and Serve" to make it look like they're doing their job but hold back hard core crimes from the media for (ho-hum) reports? I guess the police really can't be bothered or don't know how to handle real crime but they will accuse the victim of being her own perpitrator instead. Gee, I guess that's an easy way for the police to justify their lack of duty but I've known this women for over 30 years and no way is she capable of such an act. She has been singled out to be harrassed by the Concord Police many times (I myself tried to get this women help from the Concord Police Department one time and they just ignored me as I guess the donut shops had just opened). If there are any others of you out there that have stories of being singled out and harrassed by the Concord Police Dept. then please respond to this blog! So once again I ask, why didn't this incident make the Police Log or wasn't it serious enough to make the log?

About the police log

The idea of police log is to give the public a good sample of the police activity in our community. We don't have space or staff to run every report, but we think it is a service to readers to run what we can.

The police log does not single anyone out. People are in the police log because they're in the police reports. If charged people are later acquitted and don't see the acquittal reported in the Monitor, they can call and let us know and we'll report it. Many people have done this over the years.

Correct Me If I'm Wrong

In response to your answer about the police not putting a report of an armed robbery in their log you said that when there's a police report it's put in the police log. Police were called but your saying the police didn't make a report? You also said that you have neither space or manpower to cover all stories but don't you think you should prioritize as most important stories first? Does the comic strip and classifieds take priority over an armed robbery? I'm confused!!
The Manchester Union Leader ran the story of a rapist that was stalking women in Manchester and I assumed it was to alert the public of such a rapist and to be careful especially if you were a women. Isn't it just as important for the Concord Monitor to alert the city of armed robbers in a neighborhood even if to alert everyone in that neighborhood? Does the city have that many armed robberies on a given day that Police just go ho-hum and lose police reports or is it the Concord Monitor that could be less concerned about public safety?
If robbers can carry guns and rob innocent people in their sleep without much police concern or public awareness then why doesn't everyone carry guns and invade private homes if it's NO BIG DEAL?
I guess "Sweep It Under The Rug" is the Concord New Hampshire way.
I ask you, Where Is The Justice???? Correct Me If I'm Wrong!!

Story Suggestion

Would like to see a story about Matthew Higgins, the local man that creates crossword puzzles for Tribune Media Services.

Right tax verdict?

You folks @ this rag should be ashamed of yourself, right tax verdict?
Watch from Freedom to Fascism, the IRS is totally unAmerican. Of course since you will not support true American's I guess that makes you part of the problem. The reason why the FED's and corrupt government can get away with what they do is because of a lapdog press. This paper has put itself into a very dangerous position. There are 300 million American's in this country if only 1/10 of 1% feel the way Ed Brown does you liars of the press are in deep trouble. The people are waking up, the question that you all need to ask yourself in Concord are you willing to die for a lie?

Ed Brown

I am very dismayed to see what is happening to Mr. and Mrs. Brown. They are correct when they say there is no law that requires the average American to pay income tax. Most people have a hard time believing this. Most likely, because this concept of having to pay income tax is ingrained in us from such an early age. One need only do a little research to find the truth. In this age of the internet and high-speed connections, the information is readily available.
Where is the public outrage? Not just of being deceived by our
own government. But by the rights-suppression of the Browns by Judge McAuliffe, the impotent action of Sheriff Prozzo, and the impending gestapo-like action of our federal government.
There are a lot of taxes that the Browns' do pay. Another article pointed to them enjoying the roads and highways and not paying taxes. Our gasoline taxes pay for that. Just like property taxes pay for the schools. Income taxes are largely unaccounted for.
People, we all need to open our eyes and speak up. This is not what the USA is about. Ed Brown is a retired U.S. Army veteran who put his life on the line for this country. He is a good patriotic American who deserves our support. Please contact local lawmakers and law enforcement to voice your displeasure about the railroading of a fellow American.

THANK YOU

I want to thank the monitor for including the piece about lowering the drinking age. I am a student at Middlebury College and know John McCardell as a professor. As a college student I am fully aware of how having a drinking age of 21 can cause more harm than good. While Middlebury has a very good policy about not punishing people who seek medical help when drinking, that is not alwasy the case. Lowering the drinking age to 18 and requiring more education about responsible consumption of alcohol is the direction we need to be moving in. Very few young adults abstain from alcohol entirely. Therefore, we need to do a better job of teaching them how to consume it responsibly.

The rape of NH's land

I think Ms Davidson should do a follow up or series with photos on the rape and destruction of NH's lands by entities such as the ones responsible for the mess on Little Hill Rd in Webster. I find it interesting that previously there were talks about donating "hundreds of acres" for conservation but just two days ago there was an auction scheduled to sell all of that same land to the highest bidder. Despite the fact the auction was cancelled due to not enough bidders being present, the intent is to dispose of the land while they move on and start the cycle of destruction somewhere else. Some of us had a chance to see some of the destruction and mess that was left behind. I saw hundreds of acres of virtually clear cut land criss crossed with ruts and debris piles. There are signs of erosion as there is nothing left to protect the land and the occasional gleam of oil residue on some of the puddles of standing water. This same organization has been cited repeatedly for environmental violations and yet they are allowed to continue their rape of NH's lands with little or no regard for the land, animals or long term effects of thier "work". I have nothing against logging and would like to believe most professional loggers would be as disgusted as the rest of us are by the actions of Chamberlin, Bardsley, and McGrath.

It has been written that this land will recover, which is true provided the erosion is controlled, residue is cleaned up and the land is given a couple hundred years to undue irresponsible actions conducted for the sake of greed.
