Throw Momma (GRANDMA) From The Train

|

“Words do count”, is one of the trademarks of the Obama campaign; except when the anointed pied piper of the Left decides that they don’t. In an interview on Saturday, Barack Obama stated that he was not present when his mentor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright spewed some of the most divisive, hate filled rhetoric spoken by any public servant in recent history.

Monday, he confessed that he was indeed present on several occasions for this travesty that does not belong in a civil society much less a church. Somehow, those words do not count and distancing yourself from them involves a lot of fancy foot work and anecdotal story telling; spinning yarns and rewriting autobiographical references.

The Obama's sat in a church and listened to this and were not sickened enough by the message to just get up and leave? The Obama's never considered the impact on the impressionable minds of their young children?

Obama did little to explain his relationship with Wright and instead turned the conversation into a plethora of campaign issues and of course a protracted discussion of race and victimization.

Of Don Imus, Obama stated: “there’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group”. Obama should practice what he preaches.

Obama wants to: “lead America towards a society that is not race conscious but is color blind”. Yet he belongs to a church that preaches Black Liberation Theology; a doctrine of hatred. Obama, being a well educated man could not have been unaware of the agenda and teachings of his parish.

Monday, he refused to distance himself from Reverend Wright and actually embraced him as a mentor and key influence on his character. Another doctrine that should apply here is that you are judged by the company that you keep and Obama has kept some pretty poor company.

Wright is not the only divisive, hate monger to support Obama. There is Reverend James Meeks is an advisor and confidant of Obama and Charles Barron, a former Black Panther is also an avid supporter. Al Sharpton is in conversations with Obama three times a week. The New Black Panther Party has endorsed Obama, it was posted on the campaigns website today, until it hit the news cycle and now has been removed.

In his autobiography, The Audacity of Hope, Obama tells of his grandmother being manhandled by a black man and how that incident shaped her view of men of color. Monday, used his grandmother to further his presidential bid and expressed his disdain for her fear of black men. Is there truth there somewhere?

Chris Matthews stated that Obama’s speech was “worthy of Lincoln”…bull! What can you expect of the press though? Their biased coverage reveals their agenda and unfair influence on those who are not sophisticated enough see the big picture, allowing their emotion to get in the way of their intelligence.

This election is not about race or gender; it is about fitness to reside over the most powerful and successful country in the world. If Obama were to become President, he would make decisions to appoint many bureaucrats. How many Jeremiah Wrights or Al Sharptons or James Meeks would he bring into the government and what impact would that have on our future and our democracy? What will that do for race relations and how will that make America 'colorblind'. Hopefully we won’t have to find that out!

Obama’s attempt to equate Wright’s comments to those of Geraldine Ferraro shows Obama’s naiveté and sophomoric approach to the issues and reality. Obama implied that we can not discuss the comments of Reverend Wright unless it is in the context of race. Using the excuse that Wright does many charitable things is also a double standard. If this were a white candidate trying to excuse a white preacher from making racist comments and they attempted to excuse them for their charitable work, every progressive organization and the ACLU would be involved in bringing down the preacher and candidate. Instead the silence from the far Left is deafening!

Obama is playing the “race card” in an attempt to skirt the real issue; why did you wait to renounce Wright and his vitriolic preaching, why did you allow you and your family to be subjected to it and why would you sit there silent? Unless of course Obama agrees with those viewpoints which leaves everyone to wonder, who is Obama?

Any man, who can not admit his shortcomings, openly allows his children to be present at sermons filled with hate speech and uses his grandmother to get himself off of the hot seat is not a leader or fit to lead this country.

Obama’s words are just that “words”. His positions are unclear, his resume thin and his ride, thus far has been free. Let’s hope that the press will do their job and fulfill their obligation to the citizens of this country by holding Obama and every Presidential candidate to the same scrutiny and standard; with no bias.

Moreover, let's hope that those who are ardent supporters will come out of their trance and realize what an Obama Presidency would mean and the devastation it would have on our families, country and democracy!

Distancing oneself is common practice.

"Well I think it's important to note that pastor John Hagee who has supported and endorsed my candidacy supports what I stand for and believe in. When he endorses me, it does not mean that I embrace everything that he stands for and believes. And I am very proud of the Pastor John Hagee's spiritual leadership to thousands of people and I am proud of his commitment to the independence and the freedom of the state of Israel. That does not mean that I support or endorse or agree with some of the things that Pastor John Hagee might have said or positions that he may have taken on other issues. I don't have to agree with everyone who endorses my candidacy. They are supporting my candidacy. I am not endorsing some of their positions."

John McCain.

How is this any different than Obama's distancing himself from some of Rev. Wright's ideas?  It isn't.    And don't forget about that crackpot Rod Parsley who is also supporting McCain; and then you must remember how McCain referred to the departed Jerry Falwall in 2000 as one of America's "agents of intolerance," but last spring was on the platform giving the commencement address at Liberty University.

I think you've gone overboard once again, Bill, but I'm not surprised.

Thanks Michael

Well Michael,

Of course, I know that I get "under your skin" as I evidently do with others when I use facts as a basis for argument.

It is not surprising that those on the Left do not want to hear the truth.  Of course your kindness does not leave me the opportunity to be the "victim" and we would not want that.   After all, I understand that I get "under others skin", 'believe me'.  But in the end lets address your comments one by one.

Many people support and endorse candidates.  John McCain did not sit in the congregation of John Hagee for 20 years and then deny he ever heard the sermons.

But this is not about McCain, it is about Obama.  You can't deny what was said which is worse than anything that has been said by any public figure in recent history.

Guilt by association is one thing but guilt by omission and refusal to react to right and wrong is yet another.

The fear is that Obama harbors some of the same attitudes.

Michael, as always is is great to have your comments on this blog.

McCain Requested Hagee's Support

We'll see this Sunday in the NY Times magazine, Easter Sunday coincidentally. We know it now thanks to Greg Mitchell at Editor and Publisher:

In an interview that will appear in this Sunday's New York Times Magazine, controversial televangelist Rev. John Hagee declares, "It's true that [John] McCain's campaign sought my endorsement."

McCain has attempted to distance himself from some of Hagee's views, much as Barack Obama is doing in relation to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. But unlike McCain, Obama has not stood on stage with Wright and accepted his accolades this year.

No wonder McCain was "honored" and "very proud" to receive Hagee's endorsement, McCain actively sought Hagee's endorsement.

So, this, of course, means we'll start seeing endless coverage on cable news of John McCain's relationship with Rev. Hagee, who thinks, among other outrages, that the Catholic Church is the "great whore." Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough and that painful David Gregory will undoubtedly convene panels to examine every detail of the McCain/Hagee relationship.

More of Hagee's Thoughts

So which Hagee positions does John McCain endorse? His position that Hurricane Katrina was punishment from God because "New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that." Or his position that "all Muslims have a mandate to kill Christians and Jews." [NPR Fresh Air, 9/18/06] Or his "slave sale" where he announced that participants should "make plans to come and go home with a slave." [San Antonio Express-News 3/7/96]

Hagee has already come under fire for his anti-Catholic remarks. Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, said McCain should "retract his embrace of Hagee," and said Hagee "has waged an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church." Chris Korzen, Executive Director of Catholics United, said "We hope Senator McCain will take the principled position of publicly and unequivocally distancing himself from Pastor Hagee's anti-Catholic comments. Intolerance and bigotry do not belong in American politics."

Not at all the same

Politicians on both sides seek out endorsement of any group that they think will help them.  Hillary has done it, McCain did it, etc.

That does not mean that they think the same way as that group.

However, Obama, sat in a church for 20 years listening to this and was mute.  He exposed his family and two young children.....what kind of a person exposes young minds of mush to that kind of victimization routine by wacko pastors.......and then runs for office and claims that the rest of us do not understand.

20 years is a long time, the Hagee endorsement or the comparison by Obama of the Geraldine Ferraro speech is simply smoke and mirrors for the real issue.

Obama was not honest, did not step up to the plate and admit this and refuses to denounce his "Mentor and Friens".  This signals that he agrees with Wright.

As usual, you are playing progressive politics of 'two wrongs don't make a right' or in this case 'two wronogs don't make a Wright'
