Here are some interesting statistics that I hope all will enjoy.

 

In a survey of 200 children (6-9 yrs.) taken by Tootsie's of London (July 2008):

98% could not identify an artichoke

92% did not know what a pomegranate looks like

91% did not know what spinach looked like

88% could not identify an apricot

81% could not identify a blueberry 

 

From a Harris Poll Interactive Survey:

Do you believe that artificial sweetners are safe.....

Seniors 63 years +      29%

Baby Boomers            22%

Generation Xers          20%

18-31 year olds           13% 

 

From a Comm Data Survey

Who receives the largest average gift cards for the holiday season (2007):

Hispanics     $71

African Americans    $60

Caucasians    $40

 

Organic Shopping and Dining

Organic shoppers spend an average of $127 per week on groceries as opposed to regular shoppers $110

From 2006 to 2007 organic food sales grew 132%

Organic consumer make an average of 22% more in household income than average families

23% of restaurant customers showed a deep interest in organic desserts

7 in 10 consumers agree that they would be willing to spend 20% more for certified organic produce
