NUTS! No, No....ACORN!

|

In March an ordinance passed in Barnstead, wrapped in a pretty package masquerading as protection of our water table under the guise of a way to stop companies from coming in and pumping bottled water from that table.

I did the research on those backing the ordinance and the organizations they belong to. Their mission, so called: "self-rule", their agenda: restricting peoples rights and forcing their 60's style anarchism on our free society.

This ordinance gave nature and animals "rights". None of this is related to the rest of my post here except that these organizations backing this kind of ordinance is linked with ACORN! That was my first exposure to this dangerous and radical organization cloaked as something virtuous. I read bits and pieces on voter fraud but little did I know at the time the impact they would have on this election.

Yep, community organizers infecting the tissue of our society like cancer or gangrene with their narrow, clandestine, Utopian ideas. Several months after the ordinance passed, the authors of the Barnstead ordinance were up to no good, trying to stop even a "green" company from coming to town. A company that would employ many townspeople!

This week we have learned that ACORN has spread the scourge of voter fraud to 11 battleground states. We are learning about Obama's ties with ACORN, the voting registration of a complete major league football team in Nevada, voter intimidation of a pizza delivery driver, an Ohio attorney general blocking any attempt to verify voters identification, a 7 year old registered 12 times or another person registered 72 times.

The ACLU and the bunch of hypocrites who cried and whined about perceived voter fraud in 2000 and 2004 are silent.....or even mute. They just don't care and dismiss this as a 'few rogue members'. BULLS**T!

Obama gave this group $832,000. Bottom line, this is turning out to be a real stolen election. Our votes are being diluted.

It is insidious that, not only is ACORN committing voter fraud before our very eyes and opportunists who are driven to win this election at any cost are silent. Yet, they were the one's so concerned about disenfranchisement. Couple that will the fact that ACORN, yes ACORN is one of the primary causes of the housing meltdown affecting our economy and one would think this was such a concerted effort that it is coming together like a "PERFECT STORM".

We should suspend this election until we are able to ensure one vote for one person. That single right is more valuable than any others. The perversion by nere-do-wells with a agenda at ACORN should be stopped dead in it's tracks.

ACORN is defended by the Left. Someone in the Monitor mentioned that a friend of hers worked for ACORN helping rebuild homes in New Orleans. I am sure that they do some good things but make no mistake, Barack Obama worked for an arm of this organization when he was an activist (no, that was not before this voter fraud. They have been doing it for decades), his campaign gave over $800,000 to them from his election campaign and he is mum about those ties.

Obama claims he did not know that Reverend Wright was a racist, William Ayers was a terrorist and then that he was only a neighbor, while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Annenberg Foundation to radicalize education and now claims that he does not support ACORN stealing votes. What are we to believe.

Enough is enough. Does any Liberal have the testicular fortitude to stand shoulder and shoulder and support what is right? Does any Democrat have the character or ethics to stand up and demand that we check each and every I.D. in this election to ensure that our rights are protected?

ACORN IS NOT an organization representing a minorities or the homeless or low income people, it is a radical political movement rotting at the fiber of our society; a termite colony Hell bent on destroying us from within. I hope that the FBI shuts them down and they are prosecuted for their crimes this year. Under Obama, they will be allowed to flourish and grow out of control. Still the Left is silent, you know, those who care so much about the rights they claim we lost in the last 8 years. What about the right that protects our votes???????

I hear crickets!!!!!!!!!!!

NUTS!!!!!????????? Many of them are out there stealing the election for real this time..........Just say ACORN!

Barnstead Nuts

The Barnstead nuts are going bonkers again.  Blah, blah, blah...more rightwing talking points.  Don't you people get tired of telling lies?

Michael in Denial

Are you saying that ACORN is not practicing voter fraud?  It is all over the news.

Are those organizations pushing 'home rule' not anarchistic when they want to overthrow the United States government and way of life.

It would be refreshing for you to respond to the facts and disprove them without the rant against any truth that you just do not want to face out of your hatred for this country!

Nothing new from Mikey Evans.  Some old blathering I see.  Sorry Michael, you have repeated the same things so much believing it will cause others to think it is truth that you have fallen prey to your own propaganda.  Precious!!!!!!!

No, priceless.  Your

No, priceless.  Your comments sound kinda fishy to me.

Then find out for yourself

If you don't believe them then find out for yourself.  Instead of reading Left leaning blog sites, open your mind and read all sources like I do.

Then you might replace emotion with reason and realize that facts are facts.

Scott Ives's picture

Ugly Isn't it????

They want to win so badly that they will turn a blind eye to corruption! The veneer is coming off Obama and it will be very interesting to see how they spin this. Maybe something like this...Oh yeah, Acorn they were just an organization in the neighborhood. Or maybe...Republicans want you to believe I was having beers with Acorn and palling around. It's not like they are advisers or are working for my campaign...or maybe they could use the William Jefferson approach. I did not have sex with that organization...they might even try something new...stay tuned!

Anything To Win

Obama supporters fall in to two groups, the misinformed and those who know the score and have an agenda.

True believers and supporters, for instance know that Obama can not and will not give so called "tax cuts" to everyone below $250,000.

Here is Obama's tax plan in a nutshell. A single individual will receive a little over $500 break in taxes, if and only if they fill out the proper tax forms. A family of four at $80,000 might receive a bit more. This is chump change.

Next, Obama plans to give a tax cut to the 40% of the population that does not pay any income tax. That is an 'entitlement', make no mistake about that.

Imagine for a minute a person who owns a small business. That person is able to earn salary of $200,000. This person wants to expand. What is the incentive for this person to expand and create jobs? A 50%+ tax on his/her income?

Now to some on the Left hand side of the aisle, they will say "$200,000! they don't need a tax break!".  Here is what they do not get.  That person, more than likely, risked everything, put up their home and they probably work 80-100 hours per week.  They also generally create jobs which helps the economy as a whole.  Is the fruit of their labor worth more from a standpoint of risk, investment, hours worked, investment in creating jobs, etc,  Absolutely.  However, liberals do not generally understand any of this.  Somehow they think people like this are "privileged" and should be punished in the tax code.

Only those who have not been a entrepreneur would miss that fact. Small business creates the lion's share of jobs in the country.

Before anyone reads that and assumes that I am in that category, I am not.  But I do know folks who are and understand that they are the ones who drive the country economically.

Somehow, however, there is a disconnect between those supporting Obama and the economy. Bush has done a terrible job this last couple of years managing the economy but Obama will take the Jimmy Carter approach (by the way, the economy was far worse in the Carter years than now).

Obama's ties aside, which are enough to give one a reason not to vote for him are not the only factors that are important in this election. It is the hard Left turn that this country will take and some of the agenda; late term abortions and abortions paid for with taxpayer money, gun bans, elimination of secret ballots in unions (even uber-liberal George McGovern sees the light on this), weakening of our military and the creation of a 'victim' based nanny state.

Worst of all, Scott, as you stated, they will act worse than some Republicans did over the last 8 years with an attitude of the school yard bully.

All one has to do is read the attitude of most of the letter writers in the Monitor. I do not respond anymore as their zombie like repetitive chant of talking points. To think that many actually state how they are out to get others and 'fix' them, etc. is chilling. It sounds like brown shirt strategy. Brace yourself Scott, it will be ugly but I believe, depending on Obama's results, Americans will come together and bring us to the center again. Until then get ready for a hard Left agenda. Obama's move to the center is only a ploy. His true believers understand that.

On Obama, Acorn and Voter Registration The Facts

Check Point

Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign on Friday stepped up its efforts to tie Senator Barack Obama to a community organizing group that has been accused of involvement in problematic voter registrations in several hotly contested states, including Colorado, Indiana, Nevada and North Carolina.

The group, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or Acorn, has long been a favorite target of conservatives. It made news this year when it was revealed that a brother of Acorn’s founder had embezzled almost $1 million from the organization but that Acorn had failed to disclose the theft for eight years.

“Barack Obama has made very inconsistent remarks about what his relationship with this organization is,” Rick Davis, Mr. McCain’s campaign manager, said in a conference call.

Mr. Davis said Mr. Obama had worked as Acorn’s lawyer and conducted training events for its leaders. He also noted a payment the Obama campaign made in February to an Acorn affiliate, Citizens Services Inc.

While Mr. Obama did represent Acorn in a lawsuit in 1995, Acorn was on the same side as the Justice Department. The training events involved two hours of work. And the payment to the Acorn affiliate was reported in campaign filings, although they had to be revised because of an error.

The Obama campaign described the accusations as a spurious effort to tie Mr. Obama to potentially fraudulent voter registrations.

“Barack Obama strongly condemns voter registration fraud or any other breach of election law by any party or group,” Ben LaBolt, a campaign spokesman, said in a statement.

Acorn, whose political action committee has endorsed Mr. Obama, has said that the investigations into its voter registration work are politically motivated.

“Rumors of Acorn’s voter fraud have been greatly exaggerated and to a large extent manufactured,” Bertha Lewis, the organization’s interim chief organizer, or chief executive, said Monday in a conference call to announce that the organization had registered 1.3 million people to vote.

Ms. Lewis said it was Acorn itself that informed state officials about some questionable registrations collected by its employees that are now under investigation. Acorn said it had terminated the workers involved.

In 1995, Mr. Obama was on a team of lawyers that represented Acorn in a lawsuit to compel Illinois to comply with federal laws intended to enhance access to the polls. The team also represented Equip for Equality, a group that promotes the rights of the disabled, and four individuals.

Mr. Davis said that as their lawyer, Mr. Obama had “an intimate relationship” with Acorn “against the State of Illinois and the federal government.”

In fact, the Justice Department was on the same side as Acorn in the lawsuit, as were other organizations, including the League of Women Voters. Those plaintiffs won the case.

Mr. Davis urged reporters to question Mr. Obama about training sessions he had done for Acorn. “What were you teaching them?” Mr. Davis asked. “Were you teaching them how to evade the law?”

Lewis Goldberg, a spokesman for Acorn, said Mr. Obama conducted two leadership training sessions of roughly an hour each for Acorn’s Chicago affiliate over a three-year period in the late 1990s. He was not paid for that work, Mr. Goldberg said.

Even before Friday’s conference call, Republicans had made much of an $832,598 payment made in February by the Obama campaign to Citizens Services Inc., a consulting firm affiliated with Acorn.

“This organization is not just related to but deeply ingrained in the Acorn organization, a front group for Acorn,” Mr. Davis said.

The Obama campaign initially reported that the payment was for “staging, sound, lighting” and other advance work when it reported its expenditures with the Federal Election Commission. It filed amended reports in August and September to reflect that those payments were for get-out-the-vote efforts.

Mr. Davis contended that the original filing was an effort to “hide the fact” that money was paid to Acorn. But F.E.C. officials have said such amended filings are common.

Citizens Services typically contracts with Acorn and its affiliates for work like that done for the Obama campaign. Mr. Goldberg, the Acorn spokesman, said that less than $80,000 of the Obama campaign’s payment to Citizens Services went to Acorn. Jeff Robinson, executive vice president of Citizens Services, did not return a call inquiring how the rest of the money was spent.

In 1992, Mr. Obama was personally involved in voter registration efforts when he served as director of Project Vote in Chicago, helping to register 150,000 voters on the South Side. His success was widely written about at the time and credited with helping to elect Senator Carol Moseley Braun, the first African-American woman in the Senate.

Mr. LaBolt emphasized that Project Vote and Acorn were not as intertwined at that time as they are today, when a significant part of Project Vote’s revenues flow to Acorn and various of its affiliates as payment for services.

But according to Sam Graham-Felsen, who blogs on the Obama campaign’s Web site, Mr. Obama himself linked his 1992 work to Acorn in a meeting with Acorn’s leaders in November.

“Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drives in Illinois, Acorn was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work,” Mr. Obama said, according to a post Mr. Graham-Felsen made in February.

Bottom line Michael.  Their

Bottom line Michael.  Their operatives have collected fake voter registrations in 11 states.

They have been corrupt for decades.  Read the history.

They ARE responsible for the behavior of their operatives, regardless of the "few bad apples" excuse.

Project Vote was an arm of ACORN.  To not connect the dots is silly.  It is synonymous with saying that the PLO has a political wing and a military wing and the political wing is reasonable.

Nice fluff piece in support of ACORN, however.  The expected kind of disinformation provided by a progressive journalist and contributor to the New York Times.

Here are some 'facts' Michael can't face

Obama’s Campaign “Paid More Than $800,000” To ACORN For Get-Out-The Vote Efforts; The Campaign Originally “Misrepresented” The Group’s Work To The FEC. “U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the Democrat's campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports. An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. -- a subsidiary of ACORN -- worked in ‘get-out-the-vote’ projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary.” (David M. Cuyahoga County Election Board members grilled representatives of a community group Tuesday about their links to suspicious voter registration cards.

In one case, a Cleveland resident was registered to vote three times in a single day, listing two different addresses. …

The man’s registration was submitted to the Board of Elections by ACORN.

The board discussed several other cases of multiple registrations at their meeting. ACORN was involved in each case, although not for all entries by the same individuals. …

Board Member Robert Frost said the group failed to follow guidelines in its own manual to turn over suspected voter fraud to law enforcement to investigate.

Election officials subpoenaed three voters to appear before the Board next week to explain their multiple registrations. …

Thousands of allegedly fake voter registrations by a nationwide organization are being investigated. At least nine states are reviewing voter paperwork, and Allegheny County police are looking into similar accusations.

Employees of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, commonly known as ACORN, are under investigation in Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin since local election officials started noticing irregularities among the thousands of registrations submitted by ACORN.

The ACORN organizer in one state said the organization had no way of checking all registrations. …

Similar questions have arisen about voter registrations in Pennsylvania, but Allegheny County elections officials did not return phone calls requesting comment.

“Our office received a referral regarding questionable activities regarding voter registration forms,” said Mike Manko, spokesman for District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. “That matter is now being investigated by county police.” …

From Florida Today

October 9, 2008

Depending on your politics, the nonprofit group ACORN is either the nation’s largest organizer of low-income and minority consumers and workers or a corrupt arm of Democrat Barack Obama’s urban political machine.

Its voter-registration drive in Brevard County was part of a national effort that signed up 1.3 million people in 21 states, says the group, whose full name is the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The drive also has spurred accusations of voter fraud in Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Nevada, Colorado -- swing states, in other words. Allegations have centered on workers who were paid per registration and might have faked applications.

Here in Brevard, the Supervisor of Elections reports:

· About 1,320 voter-registration applications were delivered by “third-party” workers for ACORN from last Friday through Monday.

· Up to two-thirds of those “are people who were already registered,” said Assistant Elections Supervisor Duwayne Lundren.

· The elections office referred 23 applications, or 1.7 percent, to the State Attorney’s Office for investigation of possible fraud.

For instance, two applications appeared to come from the same man at the same address, but with two different signatures, Lundren said. When the election office contacted the man, he said he never completed any application.

“There is an investigation in process,” State Attorney Norm Wolfinger told me. “It shouldn't be that long before we move on this.” …

______________________________________________________________________________

Several municipal clerks across the state are reporting fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications, most of them from a nationwide community activist group working to help low- and moderate-income families.

The majority of the problem applications are coming from the group ACORN, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has a large voter registration program among its many social service programs. ACORN's Michigan branch, based in Detroit, has enrolled 200,000 voters statewide in recent months, mostly with the use of paid, part-time employees.

"There appears to be a sizeable number of duplicate and fraudulent applications," said Kelly Chesney, spokeswoman for the Michigan Secretary of State's Office. "And it appears to be widespread."

Chesney said her office has had discussions with ACORN officials after local clerks reported the questionable applications to the state. Chesney said some of the applications are duplicates and some appear to be names that have been made up. The Secretary of State's Office has turned over several of the applications to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The U.S. Attorney's Office on Friday declined to confirm whether an investigation was taking place.

In recent years, ACORN's voter registration programs have come under investigation in Ohio, Colorado, Missouri and Washington, with some employees convicted of voter fraud.

ACORN officials said they were looking into the problem.

"We'll do an investigation to see what's happening," said David Lagstein, a spokesman for the Detroit office. "If it's really as many as that, it warrants further investigation."

In Pontiac, where several thousand applications have been submitted by ACORN in the last few weeks for the November election, the clerk's office is finding that numerous applications are sometimes filed under one name.

"What it causes is a slowdown of our operations," said Pontiac City Clerk Yvette Talley. "They're steadily coming in, and we are finding a huge number of duplications."

Talley said she could not provide an exact number.

Clerks are required to check their records against a statewide database of all registered voters within their jurisdiction, so it would be unlikely that duplications would allow voters to cast their votes more than once, Talley said.

"We catch them all, but it's taking up a lot of our time," she said.

In Oak Park, clerk Sandra Gadd said they have been seeing "lots of duplication" from ACORN in recent months but were reassured by ACORN officials that the group was working to correct the problem.

"They've been very cooperative," Gadd said. "I spoke with them this week. They called me, and they're willing to go door-to-door to do whatever they have to do to take care of this."

ACORN is the nation's largest community organization for low- and moderate-income families. Created more than 30 years ago, it has branches in 100 cities and claims 350,000 families as members. It works to help create affordable housing and health care, and to improve job conditions and neighborhood schools.

Lagstein said ACORN's Detroit office has hired dozens of employees for the voter registration program and that any problems likely stem from sloppiness or incompetence -- not an intent to let people vote more than once.

"We're proud of our efforts to increase voter registration, and we have aggressive training for our staff to make sure the cards are filled out appropriately," he said.

ACORN has a method to track the workers who filled out individual registration cards, which will allow investigators to question the workers, Lagstein said.

"We certainly do our best to keep the duplications as low as possible, so we'll have to evaluate what's happening here," he said.

YOUR AGENDA

Your agenda, Bill, is quite well known.  You are an admitted racist and it's showing through once again.  You can't vote for a BLACK MAN.  Now, that's the real issue, isn't it.  You are like a lot of angry white joe-sixpackers.  You're threatened.  How sick.  How sad.  How childish.  No wonder you love Sarah Palin.  She's a racist pig too.  So Christian of you all.

Mikey, you just don't get it.

Firstly, Obama is what - 4% "black"?  this seems to be "lost" on you...   (And 1/2 of America, apparently).

Regardless.

I have no problem at all with the color of his skin.  I have a problem with the content of his character.    You can put lipstick and media spin on that character, it's still unchanged.

It's perfectly OK for you to name call those who don't agree with you.  But we're just MEAN for dizzying you with facts, without the name calling and personal attacks.

Your venomous spew has about as much substance as Obama's platform.

Character

Well, Judy, I have a problem with the Palin/McCain and republican character displayed by these two unethical people as well as many of your ilk.  Ignorance and hate seem to be what you are all about.

That is the problem

It HAS NEVER been about skin color or race or ethnicity.

It HAS ALWAYS been about attitude, competence, honesty, self reliance and determination.

It HAS ALWAYS been about helping those who are trying to or can not help themselves.

The group of can't do it alone and jealous class envy victims has grown.  A persons sees that someone else has something they do not and they automatically assume that the other person obtained that through some unjust method; generally because that is how they view obtaining things.  People who have more generally worked their as*es off for it...bottom line!

Joe "six pack" indeed Mr. Evans.  This is about "regular Joe" versus "nanny Joe".

It has nothing to do about skin color or race.  Listen to your own words and the terms you apply to people trying to just live their lives and get by as average Americans and then look in the mirror Mr. Evans and ask yourself who is spewing hatred and ignorance.  You might be surprised!

Words have meaning

Referring to someone as "step-n-fetch" is racist, Billy, and you use that term.  So don't tell me you're not a racist.  It is demeaning but it's what I'd expect from your ilk.

Palin/McCain represent extremists hatemongers.

I don't here screams of terrorist, bomb McCain, kill em! coming from Democrats from Obama or Biden Rallies.

Oh Boy.........

Now Michael, I have not written anything here that is racist and I am not a racist and any innuendo that you might make to attempt prove your point is irrelevent and libelous to say the least!

RACE is not the issue with Obama.  RACE is not an issue in my life; I have worked with and for multi-cultural companies.  I have friends of every ethnicity.

Obama's candidacy is based on little information, a paper thin resume, radical connections and a "social" agenda.  All of which I and about half of the population agree is the wrong direction to go.

RACE has nothing to do with anything.  There are great leaders of all ethnicities.  It is however about leadership and experience.  Obama has little of either.

Now you can go on stirring up hatred with your accusations and innuendos and spread division and false information all you want.  It just shows that you are unable to make an intelligent set of arguments so you revert to accusatory statements about hatred and bigotry and racism.

You do little to promote the progressive agenda of your "ilk" as you put it.

Oh Boy Again........

It is not the loud voices of ignorance I worry about it is whisper of extremists behind those who are sketchy at best what their positions are.

It seems like William Ayers felt that the Weather Underground did not blow up enough targets and kill and maim enough people.  He said so!

I guess that Reverend Wright did not scream loud enough for you?  Hmmmm, it seems as if those folks are pretty radical in that church.

Double standards, Michael.  Double standards.  Please be a bit more considerate in your demeanor in responding to blogs on this string.  Make your point but do not excoriate others and get nasty.  You are really a better person than that.

Thank you, Michael.

MORE ON THOSE “ANGRY, RACIST GOP MOBS” written by Rick Moran

I post this from another site (with appropriate credit because it's worth sharing).  Anything can be spun, apparently.

10/12/2008

http://rightwingnuthouse.com/archives/2008/10/12/more-on-those-angr...

It’s good to see some other bloggers questioning the latest prevarications from the media about McCain campaign audiences being “mad” or “out of control” or “racist” – all based on the comments or statements of a few idiotic audience members out of the thousands attending.

Ann Althouse on the latest liberal attack on GOP crowds:

The video shows that Ana Marie Cox did not transcribe the quote correctly. It’s not: “I’m scared of Barack Obama… he’s an Arab terrorist…” It’s: “I can’t trust Obama. I have read about him, and he’s not he’s not he’s a uh he’s an Arab.” “Terrorist” is simply not there. The McCain quote is a bit off too. He says: “He’s a decent family man & citizen that I just happen to have some disagreements with on fundamental issues.” Don’t pin “terrorist” on the little old lady in the audience, and don’t pin “whom” on the presidential candidate.

AND: Note that Time’s Cox (or whoever did the transcription) not only added “terrorist” but also substituted “scared” for “can’t trust.” What does that say about the mind of the transcriber? It suggests the press is looking for evidence of fear and fear mongering. I think we’re seeing a grasping for more evidence to justify blaming the campaign for deranging the minds of McCain’s supporters. But if this woman’s concern is that Obama is an Arab and that you can’t trust him because of that, then it has nothing much to do with the Ayers connection that the McCain campaign promoted this week. So spike the quote with “terrorism” and “scared.”

Josh Marshall continues his descent into madness with 360 words on why the woman in the crowd really did say “Arab terrorist” and not just “Arab.” His headline for this hilariously off kilter post is “Darker and Darker” – a perfect metaphor for Marshall’s own obsession with minutia as he desperately seeks to paint GOP crowds at McCain rallies as drooling, apelike, tobacco spitting, bible thumping, racist, ignorant red necks who must be stopped before they…well, Marshall’s limited imagination can’t quite conceive of the horrors these hillbillies would be capable of but he knows it would be no good!

When I wrote about this transparent attempt to dampen enthusiasm at GOP rallies not to mention drive moderates and Democratic conservatives away from McCain, I got the usual gentle ribbing from my liberal friends (no, it is not anatomically possible to do what they suggest I do with my head). They pointed out that McCain himself had become “concerned” about the tone at these rallies and tried to tamp down some of the more idiotic notions about Obama; that he is a Muslim, a “terrorist,” “an Arab,” or “terrorist lover” to name a few.

This, I blame on some conservative bloggers and a few unhinged conservative talk radio folks who will write or say any old hogwash about Obama – the worse sounding, the better. Lies and smears perpetrated against a candidate always backfire in the end because it turns off reasonable people to your cause while enabling the real nuts who exist on the fringes of both parties.

We have seen this the last 8 years with Bush Derangement Syndrome. Glenn Reynolds explains:

So we’ve had nearly 8 years of lefty assassination fantasies about George W. Bush, and Bill Ayers’ bombing campaign is explained away as a consequence of him having just felt so strongly about social justice, but a few people yell things at McCain rallies and suddenly it’s a sign that anger is out of control in American politics? It’s nice of McCain to try to tamp that down, and James Taranto sounds a proper cautionary note—but, please, can we also note the staggering level of hypocrisy here? (And that’s before we get to the Obama campaign’s thuggish tactics aimed at silencing critics.)

The Angry Left has gotten away with all sorts of beyond-the-pale behavior throughout the Bush Administration. The double standards involved—particularly on the part of the press—are what are feeding this anger. (Indeed, as Ann Althouse and John Leo have noted, the reporting on this very issue is dubious). So while asking for McCain supporters to chill a bit, can we also ask the press to start doing its job rather than openly shilling for a Democratic victory? Self-control is for everybody, if it’s for anybody. . . .

I would disagree with Glenn that the crowds are even that angry. Yes, there are angry individuals and there seems to be some resentment directed solely at the press. But there is also a good deal of enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. If you watch the video of the fellow in Wisconsin saying that he was “mad – really mad,” you would be forced to note that after he had decried Obama’s “socialism,” and asked McCain to “fight for us,” the crowd did not call for lynching Obama but instead erupted into chants of “USA, USA.”

These are Republican crowds who want McCain to throw them red meat about Obama. They want to boo his name. They want to hiss at his radical associations. They want to shout “NO!” when McCain lists his more cockamamie plans for the economy.

Chanting “NOBAMA!” does not make these crowds “an angry mob” any more than Democrats chanting “McSame” at Obama rallies is proof that they want to kill John McCain.

McCain – who was obviously stung by press criticism that the few nincompoops at his rallies who mindlessly repeated slurs about Obama’s heritage or talked of being “scared” at the prospect of an Obama presidency – was evidently cowed enough to feel he had to make the point about Obama being a “decent” man and an honorable candidate. This is fine, except he is assisting the press in perpetrating the lie that his campaign events have degenerated into lynch mobs. And I was extremely disappointed to see that Representative John Lewis (a true patriot and courageous fighter for civil rights his entire life) had shamed himself (and the memory of Dr. King) by giving the most outrageous statement to the press, shamelessly playing the race card to the hilt:

Today, Lewis castigated McCain in the harshest of terms. “George Wallace never threw a bomb,” Lewis noted. “He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their constitutional rights. Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama.”

This may be the most vicious, unprincipled attack on a Republican candidate since Ted Kennedy said that Ronald Reagan wanted poor children to die and old people to be thrown out of their homes. It is astounding that Lewis – a man who bears the physical scars of the fight for racial justice – would so cavalierly invoke George Wallace and the victims of the Birmingham church bombing in a wildly inappropriate and logically flawed comparison between good and decent Americans exercising their first amendment rights at a political event and the flagrant, nauseating racism that led to the murder of innocents.

There is no connection whatsoever. It was Lewis throwing political sh*t against the wall to see if it would stick – something that is so below him that it makes me wonder if Obama put him up to it just so that he could appear reasonable in criticizing Lewis while allowing the false theme of “hateful” speech (read criticism of Obama for his relationship with at domestic terrorist) to continue.

For in truth, Obama – statesmanlike – refused to endorse the Wallace comparison of Lewis’ but embraced the rest of his message; GOP crowds are racist and getting out of control:

Senator Obama does not believe that John McCain or his policy criticism is in any way comparable to George Wallace or his segregationist policies,” said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. “But John Lewis was right to condemn some of the hateful rhetoric that John McCain himself personally rebuked just last night, as well as the baseless and profoundly irresponsible charges from his own running mate that the Democratic nominee for President of the United States ‘pals around with terrorists.’

“As Barack Obama has said himself, the last thing we need from either party is the kind of angry, divisive rhetoric that tears us apart at a time of crisis when we desperately need to come together. That is the kind of campaign Senator Obama will continue to run in the weeks ahead.”

Oh Jesus, spare me. This is the same campaign that has savaged McCain in the most personal terms imaginable while preaching this pious crap to his adoring masses. The dripping hypocrisy coming from these people is astonishing. Obama would have us believe that any personal attack on McCain – on his war wounds, his age, his wife’s wealth, – is the kind of rhetoric that will help us “come together” but McCain talking about all the radicals in Obama’s life is “angry” and divisive.”

The naive fools who have flocked to Obama believing that politics should be some kind of encounter session or New Age tribal gathering ought to be educated a bit. The “Can’t we all get along” crap being fed these ignoramuses is the kind of stuff totalitarians are very good at – where dissent and argument is seen as unhealthy or “not in the public interest.” We’ve had enough of that crap from the Bushies with their attitude toward war protestors.

But at least Bush wasn’t in charge of a party that is so eager to stifle the voices of their opponents that they would re-institute the Fairness Doctrine. Nor is McCain in charge of a campaign that openly uses thug tactics to silence points of view that criticize their messiah. Bush may have used patriotism as a shield against war protests but the Obama campaign makes him look like a piker by comparison. They want to stifle all dissent and criticism of Obama everywhere. And they are willing to use their mindless minions to shout down opposing views, intimidate those who would pay for ads that criticize the Democratic candidate, even using the old Nixonian threat of pulling broadcast licenses of those media outlets who dare run these ads.

And of course, as Lewis shows, they are willing to play the race card to the hilt in order to not just shame critics but smear them as well.

Nice operation you’ve got their, Mr. Obama.

McCain, to his credit, came out swinging against the Lewis smear:

“The notion that legitimate criticism of Sen. Obama’s record and positions could be compared to Gov. George Wallace, his segregationist policies and the violence he provoked is unacceptable and has no place in this campaign,” McCain said in the statement. “I am saddened that John Lewis, a man I’ve always admired, would make such a brazen and baseless attack on my character and the character of the thousands of hardworking Americans who come to our events to cheer for the kind of reform that will put America on the right track.

McCain also put the onus on Obama to distance himself from the remarks: “I call on Sen. Obama to immediately and personally repudiate these outrageous and divisive comments that are so clearly designed to shut down debate 24 days before the election. Our country must return to the important debate about the path forward for America.”

Fat chance when it was probably Obama who asked Lewis to make the attack in the first place. And as we’ve seen, Obama did not distance himself very much at all from Lewis’ baseless smear.

I wish McCain had taken on the rest of the meme – that all of this “concern” over the GOP “mobs” is in fact, manufactured by the Democrats and the media; that one or two dummies shouting out some idiocy about Obama at a McCain rally does not make the crowds themselves “angry” – or at least any angrier than Democratic crowds (such as the mob that booed Palin and her six year old kid last night at a Philadelphia Flyers hockey game).

Barely three weeks to go and if Obama and his campaign had their way, there would only be one voice and one message going out over the airwaves between now and then. Welcome to Hope and Change. Here’s hoping that Obama’s changes won’t mean the death of free speech in America.

I believe...

..it was Sarah Palin who wanted to ban books in Wascilla, AK.  Talk about freedom!!  I believe it is Sarah's friends at the Alaska Independence Party that wants to secede from the United States.  I believe it was McCain who palled around with Charles Keating, a known criminal whose behavior was responsible for thousands of seniors to lose their life savings.  He gave over $100,000 to McCain's early campaigns and McCain spent quality time with the Keatings at their getaways in the Carribean Islands.  The living-dead Barbie, Cindy McCain, continued to have business dealings with Keating for years after he went to jail.  McCain, an admitted adulterer, couldn't keep his eyes off Palin's butt when he introduced her.  Talk about sleazy; and Palin's winky at the Joe sixpacks out there...well, just made some of want to vomit...really sleazy.  Then we could talk about McCain's pals involved in the Iran-Contra dealings in the 1980s and the extemist organization that he belonged to.  Oh yes, and don't forget Palin was just found guilty of abusing her office and breaking the public trust.    And speaking of slim resumes, just take a look a Palin's.  Obama's resume is more impressive than yours, Mr. Bunker.  And I never heard him call anyone..."step-n-fetch", like I've seen you do.  So give me a break.

LOL

Well Mr. Evans I would take Iran Contra government over Socialists any day.  Of course the Contra's were unpopular with our Congress at the time because the Left in this country related to the Sandanistas.

We have never met Mr. Evans so you I doubt that you know my thoughts on racism or race or anything else for that matter.

It is fruitless to discuss any of this with you because your mind is made up and filled with delusional thoughts of conspiracy, innuendo and hate.  Enough said!

Palin Found Guilty????

In the whole report, promoted and pushed to come out now by an Obama supporter it said that she did NOT commit a crime.  She is being accused of not being able to stop her husband from pushing the issue with pressuring the public safety commissioner.

All of those accusations people have made of Palin were wrong.  Palin evidently scares you because she is a strong woman.

Hey Michael, can you control your "wife" from saying or doing anything?  I doubt it.

What a bunch of trumped up baloney......

D's Nuts: ACORN's Legal Troubles And GOP Partisanship

10 Oct 2008 03:20 pm

"We don't want to see battleground states turn on ACORN," said Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager. "We want to make sure not of these states are stolen." (10/10)

During the primaries, Barack Obama's campaign paid $800,000 to a group called Citizens Services Inc., a subsidiary of ACORN, to help canvass voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. In those states, the campaign, according to Democrats familiar with the contract, wanted to augment what its grassroots teams were doing on the ground and had the financial wherewithal to do so. Initially, in their report to the Federal Election Commission, the Obama campaign misstated the reason for the disbursement; they later filed an amended report.

25 days before the election, these payments are now a perception problem for the Obama campaign. ACORN's last-minute surge of registration cards to election supervisors in more than a dozen states threatens to slow the processing of valid registrations. Though none of the fraudulent cards will result in any fraudulent votes being cast, ACORN's practices are, some Democrats working with the Obama campaign concede, unhelpful in that they create the appearance of bad doings, and they take the shine off the 99% of new registrations that are valid.Obama, as a community organizer, has come in contact with ACORN. ACORN is a mainstay of progressive umbrella groups like America Votes. But there is no evidence of a conspiracy, only of massive interest in a massively important election.

By trumping up ACORN's problems and by linking them to the Obama campaign, Republicans are building a foundation on top of which they can aggressively challenge voters on Election Day.

Your post says it all to anyone with a working Noggin...

ACORN is a mainstay of progressive umbrella groups like America Votes..

More Liberal BS!!   Shocking.

Why

Why do neocons oppose allowing THE PEOPLE the right to vote?  How un-American of you Judy.  Why do you hate America so that you would deny your fellow citizens the right to vote?  Why don't you use your noggin' now and then?  Why do you think John McCain said in 2006 while attending an Acorn meeting that it was an organization that made America Great???????

Might it have something to do with being a neocon fascist loving robot who spins republican taling points????

ACORN Registers Mickey Mouse to Vote

Miachael...

Acorn has been accused of serious violations of election laws. Those laws say you must be a citizen to vote. Allegations are that many were not. You can only register to vote once in the polling place where you live. Some where registered up to 70 times under various and sundry different names. If your zeal is to register voters who are legally entitled to vote then amen to you, but please do not gloss over the serious nature of the crimes that may have been committed in order to shield your candidate from ugly business.

Scott

Read the above article I posted about who and what Acorn is, and what the law reads.  They have followed the law.  This is nothing but a rightwing neocon attempt to try and steal the election once again.

Nefarious Hidden Agenda

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 6TH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS!

Yes, today they ruled that Ohio MUST follow the law and require identification of voters in the upcoming election.

That is a WIN for democracy and a LOSS for Democrats and progressives who want to steal this election.

I had to laugh as I listened to NPR (National Progressive Radio) today and some lisping progressive operative told how this was all an attempt by Republicans to steal this election.  Does anyone recall Democrats doing the same thing prior to 200 and 2004....HELL YES!

Now this ACORN thing.  Michael Evans...I do not give a damn if they sign up one person fraudulently.  Obama is unconscionably painting a picture of unfairness picking on ACORN but he PAID them $800,000.  The first bailout bill was supported by Democrats and included millions for ACORN.

If ACORN employees committed fraud, ACORN should be held liable, shut down and the board prosecuted.  Imagine, is that not the same kind of 'mismanagement' that Democrats accuse Wall Street of.

Hmmmmm.......are our rights; One Vote / One Person worth more than money.  I would certainly say so.

Stop your narrow minded demagoguery Mr. Evans.  Your left wing blog pieces that you tout as true "news" is little more than a tantrum that you'd better get your own way, even if you tread all over the rights of others.

Bunker

The only demagogue around these blogs is you, boy.  Get a life.

Life

Speaking of life.....we have one and it is too short to be constantly attacked by partisans who want to tell you how to live that life!  IN their ultimate wisdom, progressives and Democrats want to control not only the debate but thought itself!
