Just when you start to think.................................
Submitted by Bill Bunker on July 13, 2008 - 15:30. Greater Concord | The MonitorJust when you think the Monitor editorial staff has come to their senses, reality hits you like foul ball at the baseball park.
I read the latest editorial: “A day to measure the health of democracy” in the Monitor and Ray Duckler’s opinion piece masquerading as a news piece: “In public, he hears whining”.
Hodes Exposed
Submitted by Bill Bunker on June 30, 2008 - 19:51. Barnstead | PoliticsHodes Exposed
The public persona of Paul Hodes is what we see on television, in the press and of course, in his franking activities. What independent voters and Republicans do not always see are the messages going to Democratic party loyalists. In reality, Hodes plays into the MoveOn.org mentality of conspiracy and innuendo.
Something Everyone Should Read!
Submitted by Bill Bunker on June 27, 2008 - 19:53. Barnstead | Health careAs the presidential candidates take the stage to discuss health care and support, to varying degrees socialized medicine, the following article is truly frightening. Today was the big day for Democrats, gathering in Unity was a crowd of enthusiastic supporters; most appearing to be a cross between back woods farmers and Ben & Jerry. Goodbye Mike & The Monitor Editorials
Submitted by Bill Bunker on June 22, 2008 - 23:10. Concord and around | Greater ConcordI read with sadness that Mike Pride is exiting the Monitor. I seldom agree with Mike but I have to admit that most of his editorial positions were balanced and demonstrated an understanding of the world and left the door open for debate and other points of view. I want to thank Mike for his work on the WWII initiative and for bringing the many great stories of those to heroes to life. Thanks Mike, you will be missed.

Submitted by Bill Bunker on June 15, 2008 - 22:04. Barnstead | Concord and aroundLet’s get real about gasoline prices and face some facts that no one wants to admit or discuss. These prices are here to stay for a while unless we address the real cause of this economic noose around our neck and realize what we need to do to survive.

The has been a concerted effort by the Monitor staff to promote the institution of an income tax in several Editorials and opinion pieces over the past couple of weeks. It started with Mike Pride’s piece “It’s Amendment Season: This To Shall Pass and then escalated on May 6th with the editorial: “Forget The Amendment; Treat All Students Fairly” and finally on May 15 the editors penned: “Poll Suggests; Higher Property Taxes Likely.”
Gas Prices
Submitted by Bill Bunker on May 3, 2008 - 13:32. Barnstead | Life's challengesNo one likes paying $3.50 a gallon for gas; the impact of that can be devastating to individuals and families.
There are things we can do to impact our dependence on oil and maybe drive the price down including reducing the speed we drive, maintaining our automobiles, consolidating trips to the store, not warming up our cars, being conservative when using your auto’s air conditioning and keeping our tires inflated properly.
Evolution vs Creation
Submitted by Bill Bunker on April 26, 2008 - 11:48. Barnstead | The MonitorHere is a balanced look at evolution versus creation for those who are open minded enough to consider it.
Over the past week or two, the Monitor has published numerous letters debating Creation versus Evolution. That has tied in nicely to other news stories including the visit to the United States by the Pope and the role of religious belief in the upcoming election.
